Our History
Lakeview Community Church started out of a burden Pastor Brian and Diane felt placed on their hearts. After growing up in Putnam County and working with teenagers in some more traditional church settings, we started listening to a lot of what I call de-churched people - friends, co-workers, & neighbors who had some previous church experience but for one reason or another chose to drop out at some point in time.
The conversations intrigued them so they asked some more questions and probed a little bit to try and find out why, and one of the themes they kept hearing was about a disconnect between peoples' church experience and what real life was like. So about 10 years ago, they started to dream & pray about what it might look like to do church that was intentional about connecting these kinds of people.
We started asking these friends, If you were to reconnect to a church at some future point in your life, what would that church look like? From there we took out a blank sheet of paper and started to completely re-engineer the method of what church looks like without changing the content of the Christian message.
They talked about creating environments for life change to take shape. with a focus on relationships, with plenty of safe space for people to explore, and solid biblical teaching with a focus on practical application.
In 2001, they started to meet with a few like-minded friends in their living room. With the support of the Christian & Missionary Alliance & several area churches, Lakeview began & has gone through several seasons of growth & development- first meeting in homes, other churches, and a VFW Hall as a core group was formed. In January of 2004 the church officially opened, meeting weekly in Casey Hall at Carmel High School.
